About Dr. Luis Espinoza

Luis Espinoza, MD, is a double board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist treating patients at Orthopedic Center for Sports Medicine in Metairie, Louisiana. Dr. Espinoza joined the Orthopedic Center for Sports Medicine in 2003 after completing his sports medicine fellowship at the University of California San Diego.  He graduated from LSU Medical School in 1997 and completed his subsequent residency at the LSU Orthopaedic Department from 1997-2002.

Dr. Espinoza is currently double board certified in the practice of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine and served as the chief orthopedic surgeon for the New Orleans Zephyrs, the AAA affiliate of Major League Baseball, for 10 years.  He has also previously served as the team physician for St. Martin's high school and the New Orleans Rugby club. 

According to Dr. Espinoza, "I try to cater to the convenience of each athlete. Our team approach gives us a unique ability to maintain close contact with our patients throughout the entire healing process to ensure the best possible outcome." 

Dr. Espinoza remains active in the local community and has been recognized as a "New Orleans Top Doctor" from 2010 – present.

He is also proud to have served as president of the Greater New Orleans Orthopaedic Society and enjoys the relationships and friendships he has cultivated in his medical practice.
